4 tons of pizza in 12 hours: a new Guinness World Record and a powerful lesson in solidarity

Sant’Antonio Abate (NA) – A new Guinness World Record that goes far beyond numbers, becoming a powerful message of sharing, inclusion, and support for the community. With 4,345.58 kilograms of pizza produced in just 12 hours, the target of 4,000 kg set by the GPN – Associazione Napoletana Pizza & Food O.D.V was officially surpassed and certified by Guinness World Records judge Lorenzo Veltri.

Over 12,000 pizzas were prepared thanks to the tireless work of dozens of pizza makers from all regions and 26 countries (Mexico, Germany, France, Hungary, the Caribbean, Serbia, Morocco, Tunisia, Croatia, etc.), who worked side by side with passion, professionalism, and a genuine team spirit, creating an extraordinary demonstration of international cooperation.

But the real record is one of solidarity.

Almost all the pizzas produced were donated to volunteer associations and Third Sector organizations, which distributed them to hospitals, shelters, and directly to the most vulnerable individuals: homeless people, persons with disabilities, and families facing socio‑economic hardship. An initiative that transformed a major gastronomic achievement into concrete help, capable of generating an immediate impact on the community.

Part of the production was also offered to local residents and the many visitors attending the event, welcomed in the dedicated food area, helping turn the occasion into a true celebration open to everyone.

Pizza and solidarity: a combination that tells the story of Campania

Alongside the record‑breaking challenge, the event hosted a moment of discussion dedicated to the deep connection between pizza and solidarity, two core values of Campania’s cultural identity.

Speakers:

● Pasquale Telese, President of GPN Association; ● Francesco Conato, Vice President of GPN Association; ● Ilaria Abagnale, Mayor of Sant’Antonio Abate; ● Flavia Matrisciano, General Director of the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation; ● Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, former Minister of Agriculture and the Environment and President of the Univerde Foundation; ● Luciano Pignataro, journalist and writer; ● Vincenzo Pagano, founder of Scatti di Gusto.

The speakers highlighted how pizza represents not only one of the most renowned Italian excellences worldwide, but also an extraordinary tool for community building, inclusion, and social solidarity.

A feat made possible by the work of a great team

The GPN Association wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to all the pizza makers who contributed to this achievement. Amid effort, enthusiasm, and thousands of pizzas baked without pause, they demonstrated that teamwork can turn a world record into a concrete example of altruism.

A special thank‑you also goes to the sponsors and partners who believed in the project, supporting it with professionalism and generosity. Their contribution was essential to the success of the initiative.
